Scanning with Scanner Buttons
 
Scanner buttons allow you to scan your documents with just a press of a button. There are 4 PDF buttons (COLOR, BLACK & WHITE, CUSTOM, and FINISH) as well as [COPY], [PHOTO/FILM], and [E-MAIL] buttons.

[PDF] Buttons
 
PDF buttons allow you to easily create PDF files using the [COLOR], [BLACK & WHITE], or [CUSTOM] button according to your needs.
The button names are not labeled on the scanner.

[COLOR] Button Scans color images in A4 or Letter size* at 300 dpi.
 
[BLACK & WHITE] Button Scans black and white images in A4 or Letter size* at 300 dpi.
 
[CUSTOM] Button Scans images in user-specified settings.
 
[FINISH] Button Saves the scanned image as a PDF file and completes the operation.
 
*The size may differ depending on your system environment.
 
[COPY], [PHOTO/FILM], and [E-MAIL] Buttons
 
[COPY] Button Prints (copies) the scanned image with a printer.
 
[PHOTO/FILM] Button Opens the scanned image in an application program.
 
[E-MAIL] Button Attaches the scanned image to a new e-mail message. The scanned image is automatically saved in a file size suitable for attachment.

* Before using the scanner buttons in Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.2.8, you need to set CanoScan Toolbox to open automatically when a scanner button is pressed.

By default, the images scanned using [PHOTO/FILM], [E-MAIL] and [PDF] buttons are saved in the following locations:
Windows: The images are saved in [My Documents*] - [My Pictures*] - [Toolbox] - [2006-01-15] (or the current date).
Macintosh: The images are saved in [Macintosh HD] (or the name of the hard disk), [Users*] - [(current username)] - [Pictures*] - [My Pictures] - [Toolbox] - [2006-01-15] (or the current date).
