CD-ROM menu fails to appear with disk in drive. |

Cause 1: |
CD-ROM incorrectly placed in drive. |
|
Solution: |
Reposition the CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM in the
drive. |
|
|
|
Cause 2: |
Dirty CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM
or CD-ROM drive. |
|
Solution 1: |
Gently dust or wipe off the dirt on the CD-ROM with
a soft cloth. |
|
Solution 2: |
Gently wipe fingerprints and other smears from the
CD-ROM with a soft cloth or an eyeglass cleaner, being extremely
careful not to scratch the CD-ROM. |
|
Solution 3: |
Remove dust and dirt from the CD-ROM drive with a blower
brush for a camera lens. |

Do not wipe the CD-ROM drive's
sensor directly with a cloth or other item. It could cause
the drive to malfunction and cease to read CD-ROMs. |

|
Cause 3: |
Auto start setting for CD-ROM set
to Off or program won't start for some reason. |
|
Solution: |
Use the following procedures to start CanoScan Setup
Utility directly.
Windows: |
1. |
For Windows XP, click the [Start] menu, followed by
[My Computer]. For other Windows systems, double-click
the [My Computer] icon on the desktop. |
2. |
Double-click the [CANOSCAN] CD-ROM drive icon. |
3. |
Double-click the [MSETUP4] icon. |

Macintosh: |
Double-click the [Setup] icon. |

The CD-ROM drive may not be operating
correctly if the CanoScan CD-ROM drive icon, or MSETUP4(Windows)/Setup(Macintosh) icon do not appear. Please contact the manufacturer
of your computer. |

If you cannot find the MSETUP4(Windows)
icon when you double-click the CD-ROM icon, the CD-ROM may
be damaged. Contact a Customer Support Help Desk. |
