Sound Effects Server
Sound Effects Server - The Sound Effects Server - All FCAD students have access to an extensive repository of sound effects that is available to all production PC's and Macintosh computers in the Rogers Communications Centre, the School of Image Arts and the Theatre School. This unique service uses the Apple iTunes interface to both catalogue and download audio from the sound effects library. Shared labs that have this service installed include the Virtual Audio Lab, the Visual Computing Lab, the Apple Learning Lab, the enclosed Non Linear Editing suites, all Rogers Communications Centre's first and third floor audio production facilities, the IMA-302 Recording and Mixing Facility in Image Arts and all of the MacBooks associated with the Hybrid Computing Media Lab and the Mixed Reality Production environment. Please note that access to the sound effects library is only licensed to the campus and off-site laptops cannot access the library.

The Sound Effects Server is part of a shared FCAD Media Server System that distributes media such as Shoutcast Streaming Technology to distribute streaming audio in MP3 format, H.264 MPEG-4 to distribute streaming video and a Windows Media server that provides the ability to server proprietary live Windows Media formats.
