The Multi Track Complex is a shared facility that's comprised of a series of rooms that interconnect to provide for a state of the art studios geared towards music recording. The sky lit Main Recording Studio (RCC-344) is sizeable providing ample space for setting up instruments of various types. The centrally located Multi Track Control Room (RCC-342) looks into the main recording studio as well as the Auxiliary Studio (RCC-340C) that can be used for alternate set-ups or a drum room separate from the Main Recording Studio.

RCC-342 - 5.1 Multi Track Control Room

Technology in the Multi Track Control Room centers around a Solid State Logic AWS 900+ console that connects to a Pro Tools 8 HD system via four Digidesign 96 I/Os totaling 64 available channels operating on a Mac Pro Quad Core computer connected to a Samsung 213T LCD. Gefen CAT-5 5500 Series DVIUSB Extenders handle video distribution in the facility while users can connect MIDI equipment via an M-Audio USB Midisport 4 X 4 MIDI Interface and audio patching occuring via a series of AVP Bantam Dual Row Jackfields. For monitors the room employs Yamaha NS-10M Passive Near-field Monitors and the combo of Dynaudio BM5a powered monitors and the corresponding Dynaudio BM9S Sub Woofer.

Solid State Logic AWS 900+ Console - Delivers all of the benefits of an analogue audio console, mic pre’s, dual curve 4-band parametric analogue EQ, SSL Dynamics processing, full 5.1 mixing and monitoring, motorized faders, recall of analogue console controls, integration of analogue audio sources and the facility to inject some depth into your digital audio by summing mixes on a quality analogue mix bus.

Pro Tools|HD® - is the Oscar® and Grammy® award-winning audio production software known for its sound quality, processing power, and workflow efficiency. Employing a dedicated DSP, Pro Tools|HD delivers performance and the low latency during production. The software components allow for audio editing, mixing, processing, MIDI sequencing, automation; and video integration. Its employs 48-bit mixing architecture, allows for 300 dB of dynamic range and, as in the case of the Foley Theatre, employs high-resolution 24-bit/192 kHz audio interfaces. The software offers a range of options from pristine EQ, dynamics plug-ins to unique effects. Elements like reverbs, amp emulators, samplers, and other virtual instruments, are available from hundreds of plug-ins created by Digidesign and the industry's largest third-party developer community.

Digidesign Pro Tools|HD 96 I/O™ - The Digidesign 96 I/O™ offers a high definition, multi-channel audio interface that makes recording in this facility "state of the art". The unit allows for 16-channel digital audio that employs 24-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) as well as 24-bit digital-to-analog (D/A) employed in 96 I/o's converters. The 96 I/O supports sample rates of up to 96 kHz for superior dynamic range and low noise floor. Other sample rates include 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, and 96 kHz via digital ports such as S/PDIF, AES/EBU, and Optical (ADAT) digital inputs and outputs.

Mac Pro Quad Core - On the computing side the suite is centred around a Mac Pro Quad Core that features two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5300 series processors, 8MB shared L2 cache per processor, 64-bit data paths and registers, 1.33GHz, 64-bit dual independent frontside buses 4GB 667Mhz DDR2, ECC Fully-Buffered FB-DIMM, Eight FB-DIMM slots, an NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (single-link DVI/dual-link DVI) with 256MB of GDDR2 SDRAM. The Mac Pro has support for digital resolutions up to 1920 by 1200 pixels that meets HDTV standards, dual-link DVI ports support up to 2560 by 1600 pixels and support for analog resolutions up to 2048 by 1536 pixels through either its one single-link DVI port or one dual-link DVI port. The units dual display support for extended desktop and video mirroring modes and if extended the Mac can support up to eight displays as it has 300W to power up to four PCI Express graphics cards.

Samsung 213T - is a 21" LCD with resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 resolution that is connected to the Mac Pro Quad Core. It features Analog/Digital connectivity, has a response time of 25 ms, a contrast ratio of 500:1, brightness up to 250 cd/m2, a viewing angle 170 degrees on both the vertical and horizontal and 16.7 million colors.

Gefen CAT-5 5500 Series DVIUSB Extender - The facility used Gefen's ex•tend•it CAT5•5500. It allows users the benefits of extending USB, audio, and video signals beyond the desktop. In the case of the Foley Control Room the unit is used to deliver the video requiring Foley, ADR or music scoring from the Digital Audio Workstation to the production studio's Sharp Aquos LCD Screen.

Marantz DV6001 Universal DVD Single Disc Player - is a quality universal players that combines universality and quality by handling movie DVD's, DVD-As, SA-CD's, conventional music CD's, recordable CD-R/-RWs, VCD 2.0 discs, MP-3 and WMA audio discs and JPEG picture discs. The unit includes internal Dolby Digital and DTS decoders while operating six 192 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converters internally. Internal bass management circuits route DVD-A and SA-CD audio channels directly to the proper speakers with the video circuitry turned off. The units video technology includes 3:2 pull down circuitry, wide bandwidth video D/A converters, composite, S-Video, component outputs video outputs with progressive scan. The unit contains a variety of audio and video outputs including a D-BUS connector.

M-Audio AXIOM 61 - The M-Audio® Axiom® 61 controller combines all the production power and performance you need to get the most from your music software and MIDI gear. Key features include; Semi-weighted keys, 9 mixer-style faders and 8 smooth rotary encoders, Axiom Instrument Mode, a single button instantly maps the faders, buttons, and encoders to any virtual instrument inside your DirectLink-compatible host.

Yamaha NS-10M STUDIO - retains the unique sheet-formed white-cone 18cm woofer of the original NS-10M, but employs a redesigned 3.5cm dome tweeter to achieve high-end response making it more suitable for studio use. Frequency response is flat from 60 Hz right up to 20 kHz, and transient response delivers crisp, transparent sound. The tight, clean reproduction and precise overall response of this system provides accurate sound evaluation and image positioning.

Dynaudio BM5a and BM9S Sub Woofer - For listening speakers the facility employs Dynaudio BM5a Powered Two-way Active Nearfield Monitors. This high-performance monitor is of a compact design and is extremely well suited for production environments in music monitoring and mixing, broadcasting, OB vans, edit suites, playback suites, project studios and smaller post production facilities. The companion Dynaudio BM9S Sub Woofer complements the outstanding speaker system in this room by delivering that extra punch to the bottom The BM9S delivers a clear, crispy and surprisingly powerful punch through its closed cabinet design. This creates an internal pressure where the woofer gains a considerable amount of precision in delivering low frequency signals.

RCC-344 - Main Recording Studio

Artists will enjoy the Multi Track Recording Complexes Main Recording Studio, the ambiance created by its sound re-enforced skylight adds a great deal of warmth to the room that has ample space to accommodate a variety of recording situations. Technology, while sparse in the space includes;

Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-8 HA8000 - For headphone monitoring the facility contains a POWERPLAY PRO-8 HA8000. It offers the highest sonic quality with virtually all types of headphones even at maximum volume. It's is a professional, high-power multi-purpose 8-channel headphone distribution amplifier featuring eight totally independent stereo high-power amplifier sections, 2 separate main inputs, 2 headphone outputs per channel and a dedicated direct input for each channel.
