Flowcharting Symbols - Timed Sequences

Timed Sequence Timed Sequence: The small circle, which would be placed on the bottom corner of a screen symbol, indicates a timed sequence within that screen. This means that the screen will only remain in its current state for a specific period of time. Including a number within the circle can indicate the length of the timed sequence, but this is optional.
Timed Sequence Example The small circle beside the rectangle symbol indicates that there is a timed sequence within the screen. In this case, the user has to answer a quiz question within a limited period of time.
Timed Sequence - When the Time Elapses Timed Sequence - When the Time Elapses: A timed sequence symbol with a flow-line attached indicates that when the time has elapsed, the current screen automatically proceeds to the next, where the flow-line ends. As this is an automatic process that does not involve the user clicking to continue to the next page, an arrow is not needed at the end of the flow line.
Timed Sequence - When the Time Elapses Example The flow line attached to the time sequence symbol indicates that once time elapses from the first Quiz Question, the screen automatically proceeds to the next Quiz Question.

Timed Sequence with a User Click option: A timed sequence symbol combined with a user click symbol indicates that before the set time period elapses, the user has the option to click to go to another screen or interrupt the timed countdown. If the selection is not made, once the time has elapsed, it will flow to the next screen.

Timed Sequence with a User Click option Example

The flow line attached to the time sequence symbol indicates that the user only has a certain amount of time to answer Quiz Question 1, and once that time elapses the screen automatically proceeds to the next Quiz Question; this cart also shows that once Quiz Question 1 has been answered, the user can click to continue to Quiz Question 2.
