Design at the Rogers Communications Centre In a community as diverse as that found associated with the Rogers Communications Centre, design takes many forms. As an integral part of Canada's design community we celebrate and note each others advances and successes past and present. More detail on information on the breadth of our community can be found in the Faculty of Communication and Design's echo newsletter and echoReview as well as the Faculty of Communication and Design Showcase. Professor Richard Lachman (RTA) - is definitely on an award winning path. Not only did his Diamond Road Online win an CNMA award, but earlier this fall, he and Executive Producer Raja Khanna won the 2008 Gemini Award for Best Cross Platform Project for Race to Mars Interactive, an online companion to Discovery Channel Canada’s Race to Mars.
Jeremy Littler - a staff member in the Rogers Communications Centre, flew down to California in October to receive the 2008 Lou Wolf Memorial Scholarship Award from the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE ). The award helps students whose emphasis is technology, further their undergraduate or graduate studies in motion pictures and television. Jeremy was given the top award for his streaming media/webcasting thesis being undertaken as part of his studies in the Masters program in Communication and Culture.
Digital Signage Design – Staff of the Rogers Communication Centre, in conjunction with a number of Ryerson University departments, designed a prototype of digital signage system that is being rolled out across campus. The prototype was designed to deliver information specific to the location of the display and information of interest to the Ryerson community as a whole. The technology employed is Harris Corporation's InfoCaster system and as the system spreads across campus it will provide distribution for Ryerson University Television RUTV.
