The People Behind the Rogers Communications Centre
Media Systems Technology Group
Scope

The Media Systems Technology Group is a teamed based unit comprised of four positions. With over 75 labs and rooms to which it provides service it has a scope that is much wider than that of the RCC's Operations Group. As such it must operate as a team based unit designed with a number of specialties. Its role is to design, integrate, install, document and maintain video and audio systems, including the repair of associated equipment, for the applicable Faculty of Communication & Design programs.

The unit focuses on the maintenance of both shared facilities located in the Centre. The group also works where it is financially beneficial to spread "in house" maintenance requirements across multiple schools that use similar media technology. This work includes media systems specific to the needs of the School of Journalism and the School of Radio and Television Arts. This group also responds to the requirements of shared facilities housed in Image Arts and technological systems operated by the Theatre School where expertise in maintaining technological systems may not exist. With the adoption of the flexible classrooms and the Centre's Conference and Meeting rooms this group also looks after the RCC's pool of Presentation Technologies. The group also maintains the Access Grid facilities in RCC-229, has worked in SRC with Lila Pine in developing the Evolving Stories Lab and in Digital Cinema lending technical support to the recent CineGrid demonstrations in the RCC.

Attila's position is to Lead, advocate, coordinate, administer, oversee and deliver the services that relate to the design, integration, installation, documentation and maintenance of current and emerging digital, video and audio systems that are used in the Faculty of Communication & Design and primarily in the Rogers Communications Centre.
