The Rogers Communications Centre Mission - The Rogers Communications Centre, a part of Ryerson University, has become Canada's premiere facility for degrees, research and professional development in the fields of electronic media and digital communications. New Media at the Rogers Centre is about converging interactive communications and technologies: with the schools of Journalism, Radio and Television Arts, Image Arts, and Professional Communications converging in one facility, the many aspects of digital communication—aural and visual, art and science, student and professional—all meet in a dynamic hub of design, research, and activity.

History - Having opened in 1992 the Rogers Communications Centre has had remarkable impact on both the fields of communications and education. In 1986, the idea for the RCC took root when a formal proposal was submitted to the Province Of Ontario by (then) Ryerson Polytechnical Institute to build a new four story building which was to house Ryerson's communications and media programs.

News - New Media at the Rogers Centre is about community interaction and it makes news. From projects in our AccessFabrik Lab that spans the Atlantic to unite with partners in Germany, to projects in the Infoscape Research Lab that hosts research projects that focus on the cultural impact of digital code, to projects like the Access Grid, that unite groups the world over in a single, fluid, virtual meeting place, the Rogers Centre is at the forefront of developing and enhancing methods of communicating in an increasingly "wired" world.

People who use current and industry-leading technology that includes rapidly developing Open Source media tools, interactive television, 4K Digital Cinema, streaming media, ORAD's Virtual Set technology, HDTV, optical media and are actively involved in broadband communications research and development. This activity places the Rogers Centre and the people who learn it at the forefront of the digital communications revolution.
